In times of [computer] trouble, go to new CCSO site

Becky Mabry, Assistant Editor

A new Web site has been established for faculty and staff members to get information about the campus computer systems, services or networks.

The site, http://status.cso.uiuc.edu, should be the first place to go to find out about scheduled maintenance and problems, said Randy Cetin, associate director of UI’s Computing and Communications Services Office
.
"Also, there’s a kind of a general announcement section for such items as a service changing or being retired," Cetin said. "The intention is that this is one of the many ways to get information about CCSO-managed services and a good place to check first. For instance, if you’re trying to call CCSO when there’s a problem, there’s a good chance the phone line will be busy. If you’re able to check the Web page, you may very well be able to know right away and then have some information about when it’s going to be fixed."

"We hope users find this one more way to get information about services that we manage," he said.
