Harry Arthur Brady, 84, died June
12 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. Brady worked at the
UI physical plant as a building service worker supervisor for 21 years.
Memorials: Bible Baptist Church, the Diabetes Foundation or the American
Lung Association.
Arthur J. Brunk, 70, died June
4 at his home in St. Joseph. Brunk was a data processing analyst for
the University Office of Administrative Information Systems and Services
when he retired from the UI in 1991 after 35 years of service. Memorials:
St. Joseph United Methodist Church.
David H. Cole, 83, died June 11
at his Savoy home. Cole joined the UI engineering faculty in 1941,
retiring in 1975 as associate professor. Memorials: Provena Covenant
Hospice Care Center, 1400 W. Park St., Urbana, IL 61801.
A.E. "Joe" Florio, 90,
died June 13 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Center, Urbana. Florio was
an emeritus professor of safety education and program director of
safety and driver education. After his retirement from the UI, he
was active in the State University Retirement System. Memorials: A.E.
Florio Scholarship Fund, in care of the UI Foundation, Harker Hall,
1305 W. Green St., MC-386.
Robert L. Gallivan, 65, died June
9 at St. Anthonys Memorial Hospital, Effingham. Gallivan was
a UI police officer for 25 years. He retired in 1993. Memorials: St.
Josephs Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.
Vaughna Faye Harris, 72, died
June 11 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Harris was an account
technician at the Illini Union. She retired in 1993 after 13 years
of service.
Barney L. "Bud" Lane,
66, died June 9 in Bement. Lane worked for the UI Mailing Center for
nine years, retiring in 1997. Memorials: Carle Hospice Program.
Miroslav Marcovich, 82, died June
14 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Marcovich was a professor
of classics at the UI from 1969 to 1989. He was head of the department
from 1973 to 1977. He founded "Illinois Classical Studies"
(Scholars Press) and served as its editor for 12 years. In addition,
he was twice an associate member of the Center for Advanced Study.

David E. Morris, 53, died June
13 at his home in St. Joseph. Morris was the coordinator of research
programs in the UIs BioMagnetic Resonance Lab in the College
of Medicine. Memorials: Wesley United Methodist Church or Carle Hospice,
both in Urbana.
Thomas Allen Murrell, 87, died
June 3 at his home in Mount Pleasant, Mich. Murrell became a faculty
member in the UI department of electrical engineering in 1947 and
was later one of the first faculty members in the new department of
computer science. He retired in 1979. Memorials: Hospice of Central
Michigan or the Isabella County Adult Day Care Center, both in Mount
Pleasant.
Walter ODaniel Scott, 86,
died June 3 at the Carle Arbours, Savoy. Scott was an extension specialist
in agronomy at the UI for 35 years. He began his career at the UI
in 1946 and was the coordinator of the UI Agronomy Extension programs
from 1964 through 1976.
Mary Ann See, 57, died May 7 at
her Urbana home. At the time of her death, See was a photographer
I in the Division of Printing Services. Memorials: A trust fund for
Jacob Day and Daniel Malloch, the Carle Hospice or the Carle Cancer
Center for breast cancer research.
Thomas E. Smith, 61, died June
9 at his Champaign home. Smith worked at the UI power plant for 29
years. He retired in 1992 as assistant to the power plant mechanical
engineer. Memorials: Area Masonic Scholarship Foundation, Western
Star Lodge Endowment Fund or the Provena Covenant Hospice Program.
