U&I: Partners for a Caring Community
Last week, a man who had just eaten at the Catholic Worker House soup
kitchen handed me a small doll. It is a symbol of how much human beings
want and need to give to each other.
There is still time for members of the UI community to give through
the Campus Charitable Fund Drive. You have an opportunity to acknowledge
your connectedness to others: to support, for example, those agencies
that help some of us become parents through adoption; or improve our
environment or the health and safety of us or our loved ones. In giving
to CCFD you give a gift to yourself.
CCFD gives you the choice of where to give and how much. You can give
outright or pledge through payroll deduction. And once youve given,
you can tell the telemarketers who interrupt your dinner "I gave
at the office."
