2001 Honors: Graduate School
of Library and Information Science
Centennial
Scholar Award
Cheryl Knott Malone, professor of library and information science and
of womens studies, was named a Centennial Scholar in recognition
and support of her accomplishments and promising scholarship in the
library and information science field. Malone has published a number
of articles recounting aspects of the history of racially segregated
public libraries in the United States. Her work on the history of differential
access to information and reading material has led her to begin a new
research project related to the digital divide. This award was established
by alumni and friends to mark the centennial of the schools founding
in 1893.
