Musical merger
Classical violin and world music will unite on stage at Smith Hall at 7:30 p.m. Oct 22 as UI music professor and violinist Sherban Lupu, left, performs with the Peasant Virtuosos of Romania. The program will feature traditional Romanian music played on an assortment of folk wind and percussion instruments, including the cimbalom and stroh violin. The event is co-sponsored by the Romanian Cultural Institute of New York and the UI’s Russian, East European and Eurasian Center.
