Harry R. Begian, 89, died July 26 at his home in Alpena, Mich. He was director of bands at the UI from 1970 to 1984. Memorials: Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, 300 E. Hazel L. Burns, 94, died July 24 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Burns was a UI librarian. Memorials: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place. Memphis, TN 38105.

Herbert C. De Ley Jr., 73, died July 24 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. He taught French literature at the UI for more than 40 years, retiring in 2004.

Mary Ellen McClendon, 82, died July 21 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She worked at the Busey Evans Residence Hall in food service.

George A. Moore, 80, died July 21 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. Moore worked at the UI. Memorials: American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20004.

Janet F. Sanderson, 54, died July 18 at her home in Springfield. She was an administrative assistant at the College of Law. Memorials: Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road, Springfield, IL 62702.

Jon F. Schoenoff, 53, died July 19 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He had been audio director at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and head of sound design for the department of theater since 1989. Memorials: Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 E. Main St., Urbana, IL 61801.
