Cheri Dalton, 63, died Aug. 7 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Dalton worked at the UI for 15 years, retiring in 2010 as a chief clerk for Aviation Flight Training.
Gert Ehrlich, 86, died Aug. 10 at Heartland Health Services, Champaign. Ehrlich was a research professor of materials science for 35 years, retiring in 2003. Memorials: Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 E. Main St., Urbana, IL 61801.
James Russell Esgar, 64, died July 30 at his Danville home. Esgar was a physician at McKinley Health Services from 1986 to 1991. Memorials: Vineyard Church or Provena Hospice.
Walter F. Graham, 57, died July 30 at his Champaign home. Graham worked for the UI for 25 years as a construction laborer for Facilities and Services. He retired in June.
William Robert Hoyt, 92, died Aug. 10 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Hoyt worked at the UI for 32 years, retiring in 1979. He was a police officer from 1947 to 1971 and then worked as a coin machine mechanic for Campus Parking.
Catharine Cornwell “Kay” Sprugel, died July 18 at her home in Seattle. Sprugel taught at the Children’s Research Center in the department of educational psychology at the UI until her retirement in 1975. Memorials: Libri Foundation, P.O. Box 10246, Eugene, OR 97440-2246.
Kenneth M. Yoss, 86, died Aug. 4 in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a professor of astronomy at the UI for 28 years, retiring in 1992. Memorials: A Friend’s House, AFH Ministries, P.O. Box 22, Bluffton, IN 46714; info@afriendshouse.net.
