Adult Fitness Program restructured
Budgetary cutbacks have led to the restructuring of the Adult Fitness
Program, sponsored by the department of kinesiology.
That program will be combined with the Lifetime Fitness Program, which
will refer to both.
The new program will offer activities in Kenney Gym starting at 6 a.m. for
those 30 years and older.
Individual activities are offered so that participants can structure their
workout according to the time they have available:
* Open track: 6 to 8 a.m.
* Open weight room (with instructor) 6:30 to 7 and 8 to 8:50 a.m.
* Open pool: 6:30 to 8: 50 a.m.
(A lifeguard will be present for the entire period, but an instructor will
be present only from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
For those wanting to participate in more of a group setting,
walking/jogging can be done from 6 to 6:45 a.m. followed by a stretching
routine from 6:45 to 7 a.m. and strengthening from 7 to 7:15 a.m. A second
session for walkers/joggers will be held from 7 to 7:30 a.m. followed by a
combined stretching and strengthening program from 7:30 to 8 a.m. Pool
activities - toning, water aerobics and volleyball - are scheduled for 8
to 8:30 a.m.
Graduate student instructors will help tailor individual programs for
participants.
Parking for the program is available at the University Place Christian
Church, across the street from Kenney Gym. Showers and lockers are
available at the gym.
The program began Monday, but new participants can sign up at anytime for
a prorated fee.
