Brief: Discounts available on moving charges

The UI has entered into interstate and intrastate discount agreements with
Mayflower Transit Inc. and its local office, Carter's Moving and Storage.


Carter's provides a 48 percent discount on all interstate shipments of 
household goods and provides insurance up to a maximum of $75,000 
replacement value protection for $100 per shipment.

The discount may be used by new employees whether or not the move is being
paid for by the UI, and by current employees and retirees, up to one year
after retirement.

In addition, the UI has a contract with Carter's for local and intrastate
shipment of household goods. The contract can be used by departments for 
relocating equipment on campus if Operation and Maintenance is not 
available, and for employees, if paid for by the UI. The contract provides
a 41 percent discount for the movement of household goods and does not 
apply to moves made within a 30-mile radius of Champaign-Urbana.
