Brief: Social committee seeks two members

The Illini Union Faculty-Staff Social Committee has two openings for
academic members for two-year terms.

The committee conducts social activities for faculty and staff members and
retirees throughout the year. This year's special events includes "A Night
of Chocolate," a family bowling tournament, the Children's holiday party
and travel-adventure films with dinner and dessert buffets.

The committee consists of 10 selected members (five each staff and
academic) and two appointed members (by the Annuitants Association and by
the chancellor's office). An Illini Union program department staff member
acts as an adviser to the committee, which operates under guidelines
approved by the Illini Union Board.

Responsibilities of the members include attending an 8 a.m. meeting the
third Thursday of every month, as well as planning, hosting and evaluating
the committee events.

The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Sept. 8 and are due in 284 Illini
Union, MC-384. Applications should include name and title, campus address
and phone, and the answers to:

 * Why would you like to be a member of the Illini Union Faculty-Staff
Social Committee?

 * What previous experience do you have in planning and organizing
events?

 * What are your suggestions for future committee events?

 * What are your volunteer activities?
