Brief: KAM's Family Festival set for May 1

Music, movement, refreshments  and, of course, art  will be among the
highlights of Krannert Art Museum's annual Spring Family Festival,
from 3 to 5 p.m. May 1.

Ongoing activities throughout the afternoon include:

  * Saturday School art exhibition and cookies and punch in the Art &
    Design Building lounge.
  * Watercolor activities for adults and children in the Kinkead Pavilion
    porch. Participants can paint a still life of a Rick Orr floral
    arrangement. Demonstrations are scheduled for 3:30 and 4 p.m.
  * Music activities for young children in the Trees Gallery, Photography
    Gallery and the Lower Krannert Hall.
  * Opportunities to learn about ethnic art in the Asian and African
    galleries.  The following performances are scheduled as well:
  * "World of Music" with musician Rocky Maffit, 3:15 p.m. in the East
    Gallery.
  * "Movement Explorations for All Ages" with dancer/choreographer
    Kate Kuper, 3:45 p.m. in the East Gallery.
  * A concert by the Urbana High School Choral Ensemble, directed by
    Willie T.  Summerville, 4:15 p.m. in the West Gallery.

The festival is free and open to the public.
