Brief: Mail Service to charge for UPS pickup

For some time now, the Office of Mail Services has been picking up and
processing United Parcel Service packages. Unfortunately, Mail Services'
charges have not covered the cost of providing the pickup portion of the
service, according to Larry Bowden, director.

Beginning May 15, Mail Services will charge a pickup, as well as a
processing charge, for all UPS packages that it picks up.

Pickup time required will determine the charge. The hourly rate is $20
per hour, minimum charge is 1/2 hour and time is billed in half-hour
increments. The processing charge will be $2 per package.

An exception to this is packages under 10 pounds picked up from daily
mail customers. If Mail Services picks up and processes UPS as part of
a daily mail pickup, it will continue to charge 10 percent of the postage
spent as the labor charge.

Extra UPS services, such as COD, insurance and custom forms are an
additional $2 each.

Offices with a large volume of UPS might consider setting up their own
account with UPS, which charges $5 per pickup.

Questions about Mail Services changes should be directed to Jeannine
Eisenmenger at 333-6101.
