Brief: Free statistical help is available
The Illinois Statistics Office provides statistical consulting services to
members of the university community, government and industry on statistical
problems in their research work.
Assistance is available for designing experiments, constructing survey
plans, analyzing data, extending theoretical research and utilizing
computers in statistics. The director is statistics professor John I.
Marden, and the student consultant is Yi Xu.
Up to two hours of consulting are provided free of charge. Problems that
require more time and effort are welcome, but faculty members anticipating
the need of substantial help (for themselves or their students) are urged
to obtain funding for this purpose. Free assistance in the preparation of
statistical sections of research proposals is available. ISO does not help
students with class projects.
The ISO office is located in 101 Illini Hall. It can be reached by phoning
333-5703 or by e-mail at iso@stat.uiuc.edu. The office hours are 9 a.m. to
noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
