Inside Light

Martin Rodbell, the 1994 Nobel laureate in chemistry, was a research
associate at the UI from 1954 to 1956 in the lab of Herbert Carter,
professor emeritus of biochemistry. "[Rodbell] was a very bright guy - a
leader around the lab who made others do better than they otherwise would.
I knew he was going to do very well, but not how well," Carter said.
