UI DIRECT Student Record System (LDB/2) is operational
The UI DIRECT Student Record System - an integral component of the campus's
new on-line registration and student records system - became operational
this week. Conversion of the existing Longitudinal Student Record System
(LDB) to a new relational database manager is the second implementation
phase associated with the on-line project.
The new Student Record System - also known as LDB/2 - has been tested
extensively and orientation sessions for users were held recently,
according to project manager Larry Mann.
"Despite this testing, as with any new system, LDB/2 users may experience
problems during the first few weeks of its initial operation," Mann said.
"The campus goal is to answer questions and resolve problems quickly by
providing technical and application support for users."
Mann said departments should address workstation and local network
questions to their local technical support staff. End users and local
technical staff may contact the CCSO Resource Center, 244-1258 or
cso@illinois.edu, for additional help with problems or questions relating to
UIUCnet, the campus backbone network.
The AISS Help Desk also can provide technical assistance on a broad range
of issues. Users may contact the AISS Help Desk at Users may contact the
AISS Help Desk at 333-3102, $hlpdesk@uicvmc.aiss.uiuc.edu or
helpdesk@illinois.edu.
Questions or problems concerning the UI DIRECT Student Record System
(LDB/2) application should be directed to the Office of Admissions and
Records LDB/2 hot line, 333-9263 or axauser@uicvmc.aiss.uiuc.edu.
AISS, CCSO and OAR support services have established liaison procedures to
respond quickly to any technical or application questions or problems
concerning LDB/2 and will route calls to the appropriate specialists if
necessary.
"The assistance of users in reporting problems will be appreciated during
the 'settling in' period for the new student record database," Mann said.
