Brief: Committee seeks feedback

The chairman of a new universitywide committee appointed to review the
interim guidelines and procedures on conflicts of interest is soliciting
input from administrators and faculty and staff members.

"We are interested in hearing from those with experience with the interim
guidelines," said James L. Robinson, professor of biochemistry in the
department of animal sciences. His committee will consider the feedback as
it reviews the guidelines, which have been in effect since 1988, in the
process of making them permanent.

Time is of the essence. Robinson's committee has been asked to report back
to the University Senates Conference by Feb. 1. Recommendations are to be
forwarded to each of the campus' senates before the end of the academic
year.

Other members of the committee are Chrisann Schiro-Geist, Edward W. Voss
and Harriett F. Weatherford from the Urbana campus; Mary Dwyer, Richard L.
Davidson and Piegiorgio L. Uslenghi from the Chicago campus; and Gayle G.
Layman, ex officio, from the central administration.

Comments may be sent to Robinson at 350 Animal Sciences Laboratory, MC-630,
or e-mail to robansci@vmd.cso.uiuc.edu.
