Brief: May 1 is deadline for filing state form

Employees who received a Statement of Economic Interests
form and a letter from the Secretary of State recently are
reminded they must file the form by May 1 or face
substantial penalties.

Penalties imposed for failure to file include a $15 late-
filing fee, if filed after May 1 and on or before May 15,
and a $100 penalty for each day from May 16 to the date of
filing, in addition to the late-filing fee. Failure to file
by May 31 may result in forfeiture of the position of
employment.
