Brief: Third 'Petals & Paintings' benefit set

The Krannert Art Museum Council will host the third annual
"Petals & Paintings" benefit for the museum's art education
programs this weekend.

The event, which takes place at the musem, kicks off April 7
from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with the "At Giverny" gala opening
reception.

Activities continue April 8 at 11 a.m. with a slide lecture,
"Colors & Combinations for the Garden," by UI horticulture
professor Dianne Noland. Boxed lunches will be available for
sale between noon and 1 p.m. in the museum's Palette Cafe.
At 1 p.m., the program resumes with a floral demonstration
by Peoria florist Michele Birkner, inspired by the paintings
of Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso.

Throughout the weekend, an exhibition featuring art works
and floral designs will be on view at the museum. Curated by
Champaign florist Rick Orr, the exhibition features art he
selected from the museum's collection, paired with floral
arrangements by regional floral designers who were invited
to respond to them.

Tickets for the events may be purchased at the door. The
cost is $35 for the gala, $10 for each lecture, $10 for
lunch, or $25 for all Saturday events.
