Brief: Auditions for 'Nutcracker' scheduled

Open auditions for performances of "The Nutcracker"- to be performed by the
North Carolina Dance Theater on Dec. 2 and 3 at the Krannert Center for the
Performing Arts - will be held Sept. 23 in Krannert Center's Opera
Rehearsal Room (level 2).

Parts are available for male dancers ages 7 through 14 and for female
dancers ages 7 and older.

Auditions for 7- to 10-year-olds are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon; for
11- to 14-year-olds, from 1 to 3 p.m.; and for women 15 and older, from 4
to 5 p.m.

Students auditioning for "The Nutcracker" should arrive 45 minutes before
the scheduled audition time to fill out forms and have measurements taken.
Callbacks will be announced at the end of the audition period and are
scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Staging with Jerri Kumery will take place from 7 to 9  p.m. Sept. 23.
Additional rehearsals will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 24,
3:30 to 8:45 p.m. Sept. 25 and from 4 to 8:45 p.m. Sept. 26. Complete
rehearsal schedules will be distributed at the first rehearsal.

Tickets for the performances are available from the Krannert Center ticket
office at 333-6280. Cast members will not receive complimentary tickets.
