Brief: Library exhibit featured on'Prairie Fire
WILL-Channel 12's November "Prairie Fire" will look at some of the most
valuable items in the UI Library collection. The items, on display at the
Krannert Art Museum through Dec. 19, include James Jones' hand-edited copy
of "From Here to Eternity," the H.G. Wells and Carl Sandburg collections
and original photographs by Leni Reifenstahl.
Airing at 8 p.m. Nov. 9, "Prairie Fire" also recalls the early days of
radio at WDZ in Tuscola. The station provided country music entertainment,
market reports and other news throughout the '30s and '40s, and was the
starting point for the careers of Smiley Burnett and Lazy Jim Day, who
later went on to the Grand Ole Opry.
"Prairie Fire" is Channel 12's monthly cultural magazine series about the
people and places of Central Illinois.
