Deaths

Marjorie Beasley
Marjorie Beasley, retired administrative aide in the English department,
died Nov. 5 at her home in Urbana. She was 70.

Beasley retired in 1984 after working at the UI for 27 years.

She was a past secretary for the State Universities Civil Service Advisory
Committee, a past president of the Secretariat and the Business and
Professional Women's Club, and a member of the Classified Employees
Association.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; two sons; three daughters; 11
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Civil Service Employees and
Dependents Scholarship Fund or the Carle Hospice.


Maria Pia Gratton
Maria Pia Gratton, reseach programmer for the School of Chemical Sciences,
died Oct. 31 on campus. She was 47.

Survivors include her husband, Enrico, professor of physics; two sons; a
daughter; and a brother.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Valentina Gratton College Fund,
in care of the department of physics, 211 Loomis Laboratory, MC-704.
