Brief: High technology seminar set for May 1, 2

The Executive Development Center in the UI's College of Commerce and
Business Administration is sponsoring the seminar "Marketing Strategy for
High-Technology Products."

Scheduled for Champaign-Urbana on May 1 and 2, the seminar features David
Gardner and Andrew Jones, both qualified instructors in the area of
marketing management and strategy who have practical experience with an
academic perspective.

The seminar is designed for professionals involved in all aspects of the
development of a high technology product - from its conception through the
channels of promotion and distribution to the final consumer. Participants
learn to understand their product and its market environrnent, determine
its ideal position and promotion package and develop a plan to implement
this strategy.

Gardner, the first head of the UI Office of Business, Innovation and
Entrepreneurship, has worked with many organizations to develop and
implement appropriate marketing strategies based on the specific needs of
their industries. Jones, who has served as director of marketing for
several high-technology firms, currently consults with the industry and
teaches in the UI's Executive MBA program.

Although the program is in its fifth year, this is the first time it will
be in Champaign-Urbana. It is co-sponsored the Illinois Technology Center
and Busey Bank.
