Brief: 'Frontline' producer featured on WILL-TV
Thomas Guback, host of WILL's "Silver Screen," will interview "Frontline"
producer Marian Marzynski in an upcoming "One on One" on Channel 12.
Marzynski will discuss the making of his documentary, "Shtetl," which tells
the story of the small village of Bransk, Poland. Nazi soldiers rounded up
the town's entire Jewish population and ordered farmers to provide horse
wagons to transport them to a nearby train station. Within 24 hours,
Bransk's 2,500 Jews died in Treblinka's gas chambers.
The interview airs at 8:30 p.m. April 11, with the documentary airing on
"Frontline" at 7 p.m. April 17 during Holocaust Remembrance Week.
Marzynski, an award-winning writer and documentary filmmaker, lives and
works in Chicago. The theme and inspiration for much of his work is drawn
from his personal experience as a Holocaust survivor.
Guback is a professor in the UI Institute of Communications Research in the
College of Communications. Other programs in Guback's periodic "One on One"
series on Channel 12 have been conversations with film critic Roger Ebert
and "Hoop Dreams" producer Frederick Marx.
