A benefits presentation by Benefits Center manager Carol McClure will be featured at the spring meeting of the Urbana-Champaign chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association. The April 21 meeting begins with a social hour at 1:30 p.m. in the Illini Union South Lounge followed by the presentation and a brief business meeting conducted by William E. Stallman, chapter president. The meeting is open to all university retirees, spouses and survivors. University faculty and staff members within five years of retirement are also welcome and encouraged to attend. The chapter, now in its 26th year, began the group that was to become the State Universities Annuitants Association. From the beginning, the group kept track of legislation affecting pension rights and constructively worked to protect the pension fund. A statewide group was formed in November 1971. Now the SUAA has 25 chapters and will celebrate its 25th anniversary at its June meeting. David E. Linstrom, a key member of the group that worked to form the Urbana-Champaign chapter, was the first president of the statewide organization.
