CHAMPAIGN, Ill. Artwork
by four ceramics students in the University of Illinois School
of Art and Design has been selected for inclusion in a juried exhibition.
The UI students work will be exhibited at the Annual Student Competitive
Exhibition, which coincides with the National Council on Education for
the Ceramics. The exhibition will be on view at the Leedy/Voulkos Art
Center during the conference, scheduled to take place March 13-16 in
Kansas City, Mo.

"This is a big year for ceramics," said UI ceramics professor
Ron Kovatch, who noted that participation in the juried show was highly
competitive. Of 430 works considered, only 41 were chosen for the exhibition.
Kovatch said the competition was extended to students from Missouri
and the bordering states of Arkansas, Illinois and Kansas. Participating
students were invited to submit two slides of their work.
